What is the Apphelp4Smes project all about?

ProfileThe project aims to build the capacities of key intermediary bodies such as Chambers of Commerce, Employer Organizations and Business Agencies, for providing tailored support to SMEs for recruiting and placing quality apprentices at their organization.

During the piloting phase of the project (October 2016 until October 2018), the AppHelp4SMEs service will be implemented on a larger scale in Cyprus, and on a smaller scale in Poland.

In particular the project aims to achieve the following key objectives and associated results:

  • To develop a national apprenticeship support service (helpdesk) for SMEs in Cyprus and Poland: this service will be offered by intermediary bodies (such as Chambers of Commerce, Employer Organizations, National Agencies Supporting SMEs etc.) directly supporting SMEs;

  • To develop an online apprenticeship tool for providing information and support to SMEs (apprenticeship toolkit) in Cyprus and Poland: a central hub of information for SMEs;

  • To develop and deliver the apprenticeship facilitator training for the staff at intermediary bodies in Cyprus and Poland, as well as for officials at schools, Vocational Education and Training (VET) organizations, Ministry of Education etc. – responsible for the apprentice industrial placement programme.

  • To develop a national and transnational network of trained apprenticeship facilitators for maximizing the impact of the project at national and EU level;

  • To raise awareness amongst SMEs and national stakeholders about the benefits of apprenticeship schemes with high-quality in-company training.

Who will benefit from the AppHelp4SMEs Service?

The primary beneficiaries of the of AppHelp4SMEs service are:

  • SMEs: Small and Medium Size Enterprises wishing to place quality apprentices at their organization;

  • Apprentices and Vocational Education and Training (VET) learners: young people who wish to be placed at SMEs for gaining hands on experience in their field of specialization;

  • Apprenticeship Officials: officials at Schools and Vocational Education and Training (VET) organizations responsible for the apprentice industrial placement programme.

In addition to these primary beneficiaries, the intermediary bodies such as Chambers of Commerce, Employer Organizations, Enterprise Agencies etc. offering this service will also benefit greatly:

  • Intermediary bodies: will increase their capacity for supporting SMEs for creating quality apprenticeships at their organization.
